“Laughter is an instant vacation.” ~Milton Berle (1908 – 2002), comedian

I wanted a fun quote about vacations for today’s post … and then I found this quote by comedian Milton Berle. I fell in love with it because it combined the topic of vacations with my favorite sound: laughter.

A win-win.

I’m enjoying just a couple of days of vacation after teaching at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference. Then, it’s back home and back to life: planning my daughter’s wedding, planning my next books — and oh yes! My youngest daughter is on summer vacation!

In Your Words: Got any special vacation plans for the summer? Or are you planning a stay-cation?

  1. Love the photo. Last summer I travelled extensively and loved it. This summer I’m step by step developing new farm, and love it. The secret is to hear where we’re supposed to be, what we’re supposed to do every day, and do it (with His wonderful makes-all-the-difference loving help).

  2. That photo describes vacation without any unnecessary words.

This year, we will be having staycations to paint our house and do other home improvements like a new roof and windows. I’d love to get away to a beach house on Sanibel Island, but it’s just not in the budget. Instead we will take weekend getaways to fun places nearby like the zoo and Niagara Falls.

  3. Love the pic, and the quote, Beth. 🙂 This summer, we’re road tripping it to see a few friends in the midwest. So looking forward to experiencing new places with the kids, and of course, my hubby. 🙂

  4. Great quote!

Yes, in 5 weeks, I’ll be taking a week-long cruise to the Southern Caribbean. We’re going with two other couples. I’ve not really had any time off my job since starting in January, so let’s just say this vacation is gonna be JUST WHAT I NEED!!! I can’t wait.

But this weekend is sort of a mini-vacation. We don’t have a lot of plans, so I plan to relax and rejuvenate.

I hope you have a great weekend of relaxing yourself!

  5. Happy Friday, Beth!

We just came back from a VERY brief family camping trip – extra fun this year because last year our oldest daughter got married and we didn’t know if the “famping” trip tradition would change…. Everyone got the same time off and although it was tight $-wise and short and sweet time-wise, we just went! And it was wonderful. (She and her new hubby loved having their own tent as married folk and we teased them mercilessly.)

Stay-cation – now that’s the plan for the rest of the year. We have baby goats due next week and we have to get them weaned and sold off and get our two mommies on a milking schedule – that means I have to get on a milking schedule, too. Argh.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. We’ll be spending a month between Ohio and Canada to escape the crazy Florida heat this summer! Summertime is when I really appreciate being a freelance writer so I can my gig on the road. 🙂
