In Others’ Words: Work Hard, Play Hard

Work Hard Play Harder Seuss 2017

It’s been a “work hard” kind of summer.

And then a couple of weeks ago, my husband, youngest daughter, and I took a few days away and ran off to San Diego for a few days. To relax. Catch our breath.

And that’s where I took the photo of the tree I used in today’s blog post. Well, the actual photo looked more like this:

When I first saw the tree across from our hotel, I said, “That looks like a tree in a Dr. Seuss story.” Obviously, I had some photographic fun with it for today’s post because it seemed ideal for a Dr. Seuss quote.

I’m all for working hard. I just sometimes forget to play hard, too. I have to be intentional to take time to relax. To laugh. To play board games with my family. To meet up with friends to talk and laugh. To hike in the mountains with my camera and fill up the photo card.

In Your Words: What’s your favorite way to play hard?

I don’t remember how I played. The last 48 hours has been over the top, the malignancy thinks it has the upper hand, and I am done with civility.

Now, I am the battle, and I am the darkness. I will never turn my face away for respite, because not only will it give the enemy advantage…

…but this fight is that for which God molded me. I’m on the highway to hell, and the demons had better clear out, because this has me in a killing rage.

I’m going to lay waste the plans of the devil, and will come out with a collection of ears on a paracord loop.

This is MY fight, and I’m going to own it, with all my heart and soul.

    And with all my joy.

I get, Andrew. I do. It’s not about playing for you. It’s about PRAYING for you. And I am praying for you, my friend.

Many thanks, Beth. I had no idea I could still be standing with it as bad as it has gotten, and what may be coming is terrifying.
