In Others’ Words: Rest

I turned in my manuscript for my third novel one week ago.

I finished teaching at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference yesterday.

Today I exhale.

Today, I rest, really rest, for the first time in months.

I know what rest equals rest to me — and it starts with looking at the calendar and the word “deadline” isn’t looming over my mornings, noons, and nights.

Don’t get me wrong. I like writing. I like deadlines.

But I also like rest.

I need rest.

And I’m ready to rest.

Don’t have time to leave a long comment…have to leave for a 4 1/2 hour drive for a hockey tournament….rest?? In 2 weeks.
    Season? WORK!!
    More later, from Nova Scotia.

PS-glad you can finally drop like a princess on to her chaise.

A princess on her chaise … yes, I like the sound of that. 😉

I’m under deadline trying to get first draft of 2nd book finished! Target date…June 1. (which is self-imposed, so adjustable) And I’m 20,000 words away. Maybe 25k…won’t know until I write “The End” (beautiful words)
Enjoy your time of rest!! You’ve worked hard.

You’ve got this, Patricia! God will give you the right words, and I’m thinking you’ll make your self-imposed deadline. (I might have to start giving myself deadlines, too. I seem to work better if I’ve got a plan like that.)

      Happy writing!

Thank you for the encouragement, Beth and Andrea. I’ve made my 2K for the day and it’s only 3:30!

Yea! I’m so glad you finally get some time for rest—an essential element to a well-balanced life. 🙂

For me, it seems like no season is a completely restful one. But, now that the boys are out of school, activities will decrease and we’ll have some time for playing and relaxing. I’m trying to figure out how writing will still happen too. I’ve heard bribery is an effective method….. 😉

Enjoy your time of rest, my friend!

Seasons … every one has some element of work and rest, yes, but right now the pendulum has swung closer to rest. And I am embracing it.

So glad you can & should rest now. That’s a word God wants us to associate w/ Him lots. Some 40 hrs. post last eye surgery, I’m sort of involuntarily practicing rest & ice packs today after not doing that enuf yesterday & experiencing & displaying the consequences . He is rest. Rest is good. Congratulations & blessings as you rest . . .

Congratulations on turning in your manuscript! Whew – what a great feeling. I’m just starting my next one, so this will be a busy summer. But I’m going in what a great sense of expectation and excitement. Enjoy your Sabbath season, my Friend.

Beth, you’ve made it! So happy you’ve reached that much-needed and greatly-appreciated day of rest, lady-friend. It’s well-deserved, I’m sure. I’ve never yet attended a conference, but I can imagine how tiring (and fun!) they can be. Enjoy your favorite chair and a cup of tea and God’s nature show. He’ll put on a great one for you as you find your rest in Him.

You’ve done a lot! Good that you are resting. My rest is over now that we have begun to build our home and I’ve started a new book –plus querying the last. But rest will come again 🙂 Enjoy this time!

This seems to be a resting season for me right now…
Reading this weekend and enjoying the time!
