In Others’ Words: The End and the Beginning

The end and the beginning 2016

If we can search and find the beginning hidden in the ending … well then, the ending isn’t quite so painful.

I’m facing an ending right now — an “everything is finished” kind of moment. God was gracious enough to give me a head’s up about it months ago, so I wasn’t caught off guard by it. But still, there is an ending here. And there is some sadness in writing “The End” on this chapter of my life.

But I also know this is a beginning, too. Do I know exactly what this new adventure looks like? No. But I know I’m starting something new — something that I want to do. And so, in the midst of the end I’m already anticipating the next thing God has waiting for me … and I’m waiting on Him to say, “This is where we start.”

Until then, I wait. I acknowledge the end even as I set my sights on what is up ahead. It’s an interesting place to be, one brimming with things finished … and things waiting to be accomplished.

In Your Words: Where are you? Are you at a “beginning” moment or a “finished” moment? What makes the moment manageable?

  1. Your post made me think of the quote, “Sometimes people will walk into your life and leave footprints on your heart and you’re never the same.”

We have those chapters to help us grow and stretch for the new beginnings God is offering us. Here’s to your new beginning! ~lifts cup of tea~ <3
