In Others’ Words: Riches Untold

Beth VogtLife, Uncategorized 19 Comments

As I look back over this past week, I can think of many things that made my life richer:

  • Skyping with a special friend
  • Creative texting with another — emoticons can be fun, y’all!
  • Impromptu game nights after dinner
  • The zest of fresh pineapple and watermelon and peaches and nectarines — the flavor of summer

But thankfulness welled up deep within my soul as I read these words Thursday night: The Black Forest Fire is 100% contained.

I know many of you prayed for me and my family — for the countless thousands in Colorado Springs whose lives were torn asunder by this fire.

Thank you.

And I thank God for all the first responders — the firefighters, the law enforcement, the National Guard — who defended our city.

  1. Thankful for friends who bring laughter to my life. Thankful for my healthy kids who still love to cuddle–even though on just became a teen (shhh…) Thankful for our beautiful weather. And thankful for God’s abounding love and faithfulness!

  2. Gorgeous photo and beautiful list from a beautiful person. I’m thankful for God’s faithfulness and hope, new every morning, the joy of children, grandchildren, and wonderful friends.

  3. Thankful right along with you that the fires are contained.

And super thankful that it’s Ollie’s birthday today! Our family’s little miracle man turns three…and I am one proud auntie. 🙂

    1. Oh, Melissa:
Ollie is a true reason to be thankful.
I, for one, am so thankful to have spent time with him and with Chip and Amy — an amazing family that overflows with love!

  4. So thankful about the fires!

Today, I’m thankful for where God has me. I’m so often wanting to rush ahead in this writing journey, but today I just feel…content. What a gift.

  5. I’m so happy the fire has been contained! Praise God. I’m thankful for so many blessings. Healthy family, beautiful weather, fulfilled dreams… But today I’m especially thankful that in just a few days I get to hug Alena, Lindsay and Melissa again!

      1. Well, doggone it, Gabe! I forgot to get my tickets so I could crash that party!
Y’all have fun — and I’m already thanking God for what He’s going to do in all of your lives while you spend time together!

  6. Beth, I am SO thankful for you, your family and all of our friends in Colorado that the fire is now contained! That alone is more than enough. But that figures, doesn’t it? We serve a more-than-enough God. Woo Hoo!

  7. So happy to hear the news on the Black Forest Fire! Thanks for keeping us posted, Beth.

Today, I’m thankful for my work as a tutor. It’s such a blessing to be a blessing to others. Kids are where my heart feels tugged, so I’m grateful God’s given me a job that allows me to work with middle schoolers.

I’m also thankful for the opportunity and talent God has given me to write stories. I don’t know what’s to become of it, but I love it.

Blessings to you and your readers, Beth!
    Andrea

    1. You are a blessing, Andrea.
Tutors are the answer to parents’ prayers — the key to learning for so many kids. But you touch their lives, their hearts in more ways than that too!

  8. I’m with you, Beth. SOOO thankful the Black Forest fire is contained.
I’m also thankful for my hubby and my kiddos. I’m thankful for their sweet spirits, and even when they’re not so sweet, that they don’t stay that way for too long. 🙂
I’m thankful for the people God’s placed in my life who help me maintain an accurate perspective when I begin to stray.
I’m thankful for God’s amazing love for this falling-short gal.
